Mel Brown, Chief Executive Officer
Mel Brown is the founder of Studio Brownstone and holds a degree in Art, Design, and Technology and a diploma in Interior Design, and spent a decade working across residential and commercial projects in England and Spain before establishing the firm in the United States. Her background spans fine art as well as design: she worked as a professional artist, selling original work in Manchester, London, New York, and Austin, and continues to produce original pieces for select clients.
Over more than two decades in practice, she has led residential, hospitality, and multi-unit development projects across Texas, Florida, and beyond. Her approach begins with how a space is actually used before it is designed: how clients move through a kitchen, what a room is asked to do at different times of day, what the space needs to produce or feel like. Those functional requirements layer with taste, scale, and timeline to determine the design.
